“A blend of 80/20 Merlot and Cabernet Franc, the 2018 Château Moulin Saint-Georges comes from a vineyard just down the slope from Ausone, on the southern side of the village of Saint-Émilion. It’s a beautiful wine that has a smoky, dark-fruited style as well as notes of crushed rocks, white truffle, cedar, and spice. Medium to full-bodied, balanced, and lightly textured on the palate, it shines for both its complexity and elegance, and will drink nicely for two decades or more.”

“The 2018 Moulin Saint-Georges has a broody, introspective bouquet, so I allowed it 90-120 minutes to open. It reveals enticing blackberry, seaweed and light graphite notes with aeration, perhaps a little more sophisticated than recent vintages of the Vauthier family’s estate. The immediate impression on the palate is the texture, which is satin-like and very harmonious. Veins of blue fruit infuse the black, and blood orange surfaces toward the finish, which is almost Burgundy in style. A wonderful Moulin Saint-Georges that will difficult to resist.”
