Quivira is a quiet winery that consistently makes truly elegant, pure wines. Family owned since its founding in 1981, Quivira is a leading producer of Sauvignon Blanc, Zinfandel and Rhone varietals. Their vineyards are both certified organic and Demeter Certified Biodynamic. They know how to make quality wine from the Dry Creek Valley and have always met with critical praise from the wine press. Quivira makes killer wines and their Sauvignon Blanc is one of the top-rated in all of California. Two of their single-vineyard Sauvignon Blancs have landed on Wine Spectator’s Top 100 Wines of the Year in the past. They’re perennially one of the finest in Sonoma County. Quivira’s Sauvignon Blancs are pure gold and all bestsellers at the store. In fact, sometimes it’s hard to keep them on the shelf. If you love a zesty Sauvignon Blanc, then the 2020 Quivira Alder Grove Sauvignon Blanc is for you. It’s full-bodied with a nose of white rose, walnut and almond. On the palate, there are flavors of white peach, lemon zest, grapefruit, apricot, tangy citrus and star fruit. It’s rich and nutty, but refreshing thanks to the rifling acidity. This Sauvignon Blanc has a substantial finish with flavors of crunchy Asian pears and a subtle hint of arugula for a balanced flavor profile. The winery will be stopping production on their Alder Grove Sauvignon Blanc in the future, so this may be your last chance to grab one! Enjoy!
“White-peach, lemon-zest and aniseed aromas follow through to full body with white pepper and spices and tangy citrus, grapefruit character at the finish. If you are looking for a zesty sauvignon blanc, this is for you.”
Winemaker Notes:
“The wine is pale straw in color and day bright. The nose is filled with white rose, walnut, almond skin, and apricot pit. In the mouth, this Sauvignon blanc really delivers with flavors of Apricot, Star Fruit, and bitter herbs. Further along comes minerality reminiscent of wet river rock. The wine is all at once rich and nutty but also refreshing due to the rifling acidity. Kind of a paradox that begs for a nice wedge of French cheese. The finish is substantial with flavors of crunchy Asian pears and a hint of bitter arugula.”
